WE NEED TO ENFORCE READER RESPONSE SO THAT WE CAN ENSURE THE STUDENTS UNDERSTANDING AND COMPREHENSION. AS A CHILD OR AS A STUDENT I WOULD HEAR MY TEACHERS SAY READER RESPONSE I NEVER TRUELY UNDERSTOOD WHAT IT MEANT, UNTIL I WAS IN THE 4TH GRADE, MY TEACHER WAS AWESOME! SHE HAD US WORK IN GROUPS AND FIGURE OUT THE SETTING, THE CHARACTERS, OR WRITE IN OUR JOURNALS. SHE WOULD HAVE US WRITE AS IF WE WERE ONE OF THE CHARACTERS, I REALLY CONNECTED TO THE STORIES WHEN SHE HAD US DO THAT. SOME EXAMPLES OF  READER RESPONSE ARE WEBS, JOURNALS, MASK, VOCABULARY QUILTS ETC. MY PERSONAL FAVORITE IS THE MASK! I REALLY LIKED MAKING THE MASK AND HANGING IT UP, EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT THE GREATEST ARTIST, BUT IT REALLY MADE ME CONNECT TO ONE OF THE CHARACTERS.
MY FAVORITE BOOK THAT WE READ DURING CLASS WAS "THE SWEETEST FIG." I ENJOYED THE STORY BECAUSE BILOT, THE DENTIST WAS A GREEDY, SELFISH, HEARTLESS CHARACTER, THAT GOT WHAT HE DESERVED IN THE END. I AM A HUGE ANIMAL LOVER AND I JUST THINK THAT ANIMALS SHOULD BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND SHOULD BE LOVED UNCONDITIONALLY. I WAS SHOCKED THAT WHEN THE WOMAN PAID HIM WITH FIGS HE WAS UNGRATEFUL, UNTIL HE FIGURED OUT THAT THEY  WERE MAGICAL, BUT WHEN HE WISHED OR DREAMED TO BE THE RICHEST MAN, THE DOG MARCEL, ATE THE LAST FIG. IN THE MORNING WHEN HE WOKE UP BIBOT AND MARCEL HAD BEEN SWITCHED! A PERFECT ENDING!

Idea development can be generated in many ways, for example, webbing, listing, talking, writing certain traits etc. I honestly feel that by talking and listing I generate ideas better. When we were listing words that describe us I was amazed how well I came up with a sentence or two. I always used webbing as a way to generate ideas, I never thought listing would help me as much as it did. I believe that while generating ideas it is always good to take a break, I know that I get frustrated when I can't think, and if I take a break then go back my ideas start to flow again. Five words that describe me are: independent, spontaneous, respectful, hard worker and happy! I would say that I am independent because as soon as I turned 16, I got a job it may not have been the best job but at least it paid the bills. I got the job so I did not have to depend on my parents to support me, it gave me freedom and made me a responsible individual!

Before I started this class I thought that Language Arts was not as complex as it is. I may have thought this about Language Arts because  as a student in grade school, teacher never put the elements out there. I mean they do not say okay Language arts is writing, reading, listening, viewing, and visually representing. I know that when I was in Language arts classrooms I would  just thing writing, writing, writing. Now that Dr. Harris has put them in front of me, now I realize that all of those do play a role in language arts. It's funny how I had to take a step back and really think about it, and how I learned. I had really good teacher's for language arts and I started remembering the activities we would do, the journal writing, the reflecting. It's funny because then I started to miss it.lol. The process of learning really had an impact on me, I never sat down to ponder how we learn and the steps that are involved. Organization is the main factor, which when you think about it, it makes perfect sense. When I learn new material I always try to associate it with material I have already learned, I believed that I have a TAMUK-SA File. Everything that I have learned so far is closely related, so it is easy for me to remember and apply in life or in the field base classrooms. Metacognition, I will always Remember Dr. Jurica when I hear that term, his class is the first class that I learned that term. I never knew there was a term that described think about your thinking. I do that all the time, especially when I read, I always ask myself what did I just read or I don't remember what I just read, now I have to go back and re-read. Teaching children to read is going to be a tough task, since there is a 4 language system, before I started studying early childhood I thought that you teach kids the sounds of the letters, and the blends, and they would be able to communicate effectively. Now that I have been an early childhood student, I realize that it take more than that, which intrigues me as a feature educator. The 4 language systems are phonological, syntactic, semantic and pragmatic. These systems will help me as an educator to effectively teach me students, how to read, write and communicate. I think that the Gardner's MI test is a great way to get to k ow your students, and figure out they best way they learn. The reading and writing processes is great to be aware of, especially the reading, I think that the different stages will help me as a feature teacher, to make reading in the classroom and outside the classroom successful. The writing process is something that I do not practice, but I really should. To be honest I am guilty of checking my spelling, and changing my paper five times before I finish.  I remember I used to do webs or write out my Ideas, but when I got to college I stopped. I should go back to that. I know that it does help organize your thoughts, and I will have my students do it, so I better start practicing what I am going to be teaching.
